Could there possibly be room in the market for yet another cute little iPod speaker gadget? The ever-inventive Japanese engineers at Elecom seem to think so. Their latest product launch, the SoundBlock, is just another little speaker that you plug into the bottom of your iPod for probably less-than-impressive sound. When I first saw this thing, I thought that it was a straight LEGO rip-off. Or maybe they’re inspired by PEZ. Either way, they don’t really seem all that interesting.

Many years ago, Apple’s tools first opened people’s eyes to the power of music and multimedia, and now, Apple iPod is considered to be the world's best selling and most desired digital audio player. It possesses a worldwide mainstream adoption. This has made it one of the most popular consumer brands in the market. And Sourcingmap.com, as the first Factory-Direct Wholesale Online Superstore, have announced an expansion to its electronic products with the introduction of iPod accessories since December 2006 which are storages of items ranging from iPod FM Transmitter , iPod Headphones, iPod Skin&Case to iPod Armband , iPod Chargers & Batteries, iPod Cable, and iPod docks .

We've covered Colorware's professional gadget painting in the past—and were more than satisfied after seeing their work close up, but their latest iPod coloring seems to be more than just cosmetic. The iPod Touch 2G color-coats the shiny silver metallic back with a color layer, which most likely handles fingerprints and scratches better than the original surface. They also paint iPod Nano 4G and iPod Classic as well as iPhone 3G, so you've got options on those devices as well. The process is not all that cheap ($125 to send yours in), but it's definitely worth it considering that they do a great job and you'll be using these gadgets for years.

The title of this post alludes to the six-month gap since the last edition of my iPod/iPhone’s shuffled-up music track output. No particular reason for the lapse — the randomized nature of the source also extends to my desire to actually document it here.

iPod Touch

ultimate aluminium case for the iPod Touch has been created. It is named Factron Quattro and it keeps your iPod Touch completely safe.
The case comes as 2 separate sheets of aluminium which are shaped to allow your Touch to sit perfectly in. In each corner there are screws and threads which allow you to attach the other sheet to the lower side of the touch and be securely fastened together. Although it doesn't appear to protect the screen, it certainly prevents damage to the touch should it be dropped on concrete.
The two downsides to this case are first, the size... with those extra corners added on, the Touch wont easily fit in your pocket any more. Finally, the price is a huge $227.29... which seems a tad on the steep side to me. I think I'd rather risk just not having a case my self then paying a total of over $500 for both the case and iPod Touch.

A friend of mine recently asked if she should buy an iPod Touch or a Motorola Droid. While these are two completely different products, one being a wifi-enabled MP3 player and the other being a full-featured smartphone, a choice definitely still exists. So without any further adieu, here’s what I had to say about the two of them!

Market research firm iSuppli is at it again with the cost breakdowns of Apple products. Business Week reports the research firm took apart the new iPod nanos to draft estimates of what the gadget's parts could cost Apple, and shows that Apple did a bit of cost-cutting with its latest tiny music player.Notably, iSuppli estimates the $149 4GB iPod nano costs $58.85 to make (a savings of $13 over the second-gen 4GB model), while costs for the 8GB model are estimated at $82.85 (allowing Apple to save over $31 over the previous 8GB model). As usual, these numbers can't account for costs that we are not privy to, such as research, software development, packaging, etc. The numbers also don't do anything to remind people that Apple's average profit margin has only risen to 36 percent since its Q3 2007 earnings call; that percentage is on the higher end of the industry average to be sure, but a far cry from people's claims of 50 percent or more.Ultimately these cost reductions are due to competition among iPod hardware suppliers. This should bode well for the life of the device and, perhaps more importantly, the spread of flash memory throughout the rest of the industry.
